The US Embassy in Colombo has warned that foreigners who attempt to travel to the United States on tourist visas with the intention of obtaining citizenship for their child could face future visa denials.
Such travelers often rely on US government medical assistance. But the cost of that is borne by American taxpayers. The embassy announced that US consular officers will deny such travelers’ tourist visas if they believe that childbirth is the primary purpose of their travel for citizenship benefits that are not permitted under visa regulations.
