Wild Elephant who goes to cross the Amban River falls into Elahera Reservoir

A wild elephant that had been roaming around Elahera in Polonnaruwa for several days has reportedly fallen into an anvil, resulting in the sluice gates of the Moragahakanda Reservoir having to be closed for two hours.

Local residents say that the elephant must have fallen into the anvil while trying to cross the Amban River. They immediately informed the wildlife officials after seeing the elephant trapped there as the sluice gates were open.

The wildlife officials then informed the engineers of the Moragahakanda Reservoir, who took steps to close the sluice gates. After the water level decreased due to the closure of the sluice gates, the elephant left its place and went into the forest.
