What the Malima government is going to do to education

The National People’s Power government is ready to carry out the biggest educational revolution in the history of Sri Lanka, says Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage. Accordingly, from 2026, a separate examination will be held from the 9th grade and children will be given the opportunity to pursue vocational education, he added.

“Education is the main center where everything can be built in this country. There is a huge quality decline in that education. There is a huge problem in the output created by this education. So, that is why the Malima government is expecting this education to undergo a huge transformation.

We expect that from 2026, especially for these children, this education system will be prepared to free children from the burden of education, and not only that, but also to make them socially friendly individuals, and to make them highly developed human beings.”
