‘We trust A.K.D’ says Gnanasara Thero

Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero has requested the President to establish a formal institution to provide and discuss the sensitive information he has collected regarding the increasing racism and religious intolerance in the country.

Speaking to the media, the Thero said that he has various information that even the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) does not have.

“There is no point in keeping this information with me. I trust this government. Therefore, I hope to hand over this information to an institution established by the government,” the Thero said.

“As the Maha Sangha, we have had the responsibility of protecting the nation since ancient times. That is the duty we have fulfilled in the past. Therefore, we have always informed the relevant authorities and parties before every critical situation that the country is going to face. Unfortunately, no one listened to us. Instead, we were considered to be the ones who created racism in the country,” the Venerable Gnanasara Thero said.

“We have faith in the current government. If the President decides to take decisive action to defeat the racism and religious fanaticism that are taking root and growing in this country, we should provide our utmost support to that effort without hindering it in any way,” the Venerable Gnanasara Thero said.
