We have the legal and economic rights to the song – say the singers.

The Singers’ Association says that it has requested the government to grant the legal and economic rights to the singers and to amend the relevant laws.

Speaking at the event, veteran singer Jagath Wickramasinghe said that the existing law was amended in 2003 and that he had come to know that not even three famous, experienced singers participated in that event.

He pointed out that this bill has been passed in such a way that only the lyricist and the composer have the economic and legal rights.

He said this at a press conference organized by the Sri Lanka Singers’ Association at the Sapiri Piyasa Auditorium located in the Colombo Municipal Council premises.
