We did not say that a minister would receive Rs. 162 per liter of fuel.

Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food, Security and Cooperatives Wasantha Samarasinghe states that neither the President nor anyone of the government has previously said that a commission of Rs. 162 per liter of fuel would go into the pockets of a former minister.

The President only stated at the time that there would be a tax of Rs. 102 per liter of fuel and that Rs. 50 of it would be deducted as a loan to the Treasury, he said.

The price of a liter of oil is determined by adding that loan amount, the Minister stated. He said that the fuel price is revised according to the fuel price formula and that the final price revision was made in the same manner.
