We did not deliver a bankrupt country.

Former Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe said, “If our team including former President Ranil Wickremesinghe were in power, we would have made the necessary arrangements to release the fourth installment of the International Monetary Fund in the first quarter.”

He stated this at the press conference held at the New Democratic Front office on Flower Road, Colombo.

He said that no matter what arguments are presented, the country’s progress can be decided only by completing the agreements made with the International Monetary Fund to prepare the country’s economic framework.

Therefore, the former state minister said that it is up to the current government to win the challenge and if not, it will face another collapse.

Our government has handed over a secure economy to the current government. Accordingly, the country has been handed over to the current president by transforming this country into a bankruptcy-free country. Therefore, the responsibility of protecting it is the responsibility of the current president,” he said.
