Member of Parliament Wimal Wirawansa stated that the authorized officer of the Immigration Department who testified today in court accepted that it is possible to travel abroad with a valid passport using a valid visa on an inactive passport. He said that this was confirmed by the testimony given by Chandralal Alahakon, an authorized official of the Immigration Department, before the court.
Accordingly, he further mentioned that it was clear to the court whether his arrest during the good governance period for trying to leving the country with a fake passport was not regular .
This evidence was presented before the court today when the case was filed alleging that he tried to travel abroad with an illegal passport on 23.10.2015 and violated the Immigration Act.
Speaking to the media, MP Vmal Weerawansa said this after appearing in the Negombo Magistrate’s Court in the passport case.
