Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Vijitha Herath says that an alternative debt sustainability analysis will not be conducted with Sri Lanka’s debt holders at this time.
He said that the economy will not be allowed to collapse and will continue under the existing system.
Minister Vijitha Herath said this in a media inquiry regarding the presidential election manifesto stating that a debt sustainability analysis will be carried out under the National People’s Power.
“IMF representatives came and held a conceptual discussion on how the new government would deal with this issue. Otherwise, no decisions were made after discussing structural changes. It will be discussed in the discussions held at the officer level.
As a government, we did not change that system. We did not change the system we had with the creditors. The economy went to the same method that had not been allowed to collapse. If you stop it and go back to find out whether this is right or wrong, it will take a long time. We have to face big problems in the economy.” He said.
