Dr. Gallale Sumanasiri Thero has decided to resign from the post of Chancellor of Rajarata University. In a letter addressed to the President’s Secretary Sanath Kumanayake, he has stated that the appointment of the Thero has hurt the feelings of some parties.
The letter also states that some lay people loyal to the former Chancellor are publishing unfair statements in the media, and therefore he has decided to resign from this post to prevent the emergence and creation of division in the Sangha.
Dr. Gallale Sumanasiri Thero was appointed as the Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka by President Anura Kumara Disanayake on February 10.
