UNP and NPP form government

The power in the Minipe Pradeshiya Sabha, where no party had a majority in the provincial elections, has been jointly held by the National People’s Power and the United National Party.

Eleven of the total twenty-three members of the Pradeshiya Sabha were from the National People’s Power, and with the support of the UNP candidate, they were able to complete the required majority.

The candidate who contested for the post of chairman from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya could only get ten votes. The candidate of the Sarvajana Paksha Balawegaya did not vote.
