Unlicensed vehicles for five years, will be blacklisted .

The Department of Motor Vehicles states that out of the 8.3 million registered vehicles in Sri Lanka, 2.3 million are not being used. This conclusion has been reached based on the fact that only 6 million vehicles have obtained QR codes for fuel access.

Considering this situation, the department aims to eliminate the details of the remaining 2.3 million vehicles from the system, considering them as unused.

As the initial step, all provincial councils have been notified to submit a report on such vehicles. The objective is to remove vehicles that have not obtained revenue licenses for a period of five years from the system. Subsequently, these vehicles will be blacklisted, and inspections will be carried out by motor transport inspectors nationwide.
