University students arrested for defying court order

27 people who protested in front of the Ministry of Health in violation of court orders were arrested by Maradana Police last night (27).

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Students’ Union protested in front of the Ministry of Health yesterday afternoon, based on several demands, and a group including the convener of the Inter-University Student Council also joined in.

At that time, 8 representatives had a discussion with the Secretary of the Ministry of Health. After the discussion failed, they continued to protest and
continued their protest.

The police had reported the protest and march to the court and accordingly an order had been issued prohibiting protesters from entering the Hospital Square in the Maradana Police Division, the Ministry of Health and the hospitals located nearby, and from blocking the highways and sidewalks around Deans Road, The Serum Road, Regent Street and the National Hospital Square, holding protests, marches and standing in front of the Ministry of Health.
