Two persons have been arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division on suspicion of planning an attack on Israeli nationals in this country. One of the arrested persons is a resident of Jaffna and the other is a resident of Colombo area. The father of one is Maldivian.
These suspects have said that after agreeing to carry out the attack, they were given 50 lakh rupees.
Based on international intelligence reports, the US Embassy in Sri Lanka and the government of Israel have issued a warning to the people of their country that an attack will be targeted at tourist spots in Arugambe and coastal areas.
