A bus carrying a group of people going on a picnic collided head-on with a three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction near Talawa junction on the Anuradhapura Padeniya road in Talawa police domain and an accident occurred.
At the time of the accident, the driver and three people in the back seat of the three-wheeler sustained serious injuries and the driver and a person in the back died while being admitted to Talawa Hospital.
The other two injured have been shifted to Anuradhapura Hospital for further treatment. The deceased are aged 19 and 21 and are residents of Epawala area.
The bus driver has been arrested.
