The navy reports that two fishermen from the ‘Devon 5’ vessel, who fell ill after drinking a liquid from a bottle that had floated in the sea, have been rescued by a Singaporean merchant ship and are being brought ashore.
The two rescued fishermen will be handed over to the Navy ship Vijayabahu, where they have already begun receiving medical treatment.
Tragically, four other fishermen from the same vessel lost their lives after consuming the liquid from the bottle that had washed ashore.
