Police sources say that two members of the same family were killed when a person attacked three members of the same family with a sharp weapon this morning (03) in the Mawadawila Akkara 13 area of the Thelikada Police Division in Galle.
The incident occurred at around 6 am this morning. The injured were taken to hospital, but two of them died, the sources further stated.
The deceased in the attack are the grandmother of the family and her granddaughter’s husband. The granddaughter’s daughter is currently receiving treatment after being injured in the incident. One of her arms has been severed from her body and she is currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Hospital Intensive Care Unit, police said.
The suspect in the attack has been arrested by the Thelikada Police and he is the husband of the deceased’s other daughter. The suspect is reportedly a former military soldier.
