Two ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ members to be included in Public Safety Committees

With the aim of ensuring public safety, the Acting Inspector General of Police has issued a circular to all OICs to establish new Public Safety Committees covering 14,022 Grama Niladhari Divisions. This is expected to actively involve the public.

The objectives of the “Clean Sri Lanka” programs are to be taken as the basis in conducting these committees, and the circular states that two members of the “Clean Sri Lanka” Grama Sabha should be included in the committee membership.

In coordination with the Youth Services Officer of the relevant Divisional Secretariat, a resident of the division between the ages of 18 and 45 should be appointed for the posts of Vice Chairman and Deputy Secretary.

A minimum of 25 community stakeholders must be appointed to the committee, of which at least 50 percent (50%) must be youth between the ages of 18 and 45.
