Last year (2025), vehicles worth US$ 2047 million were imported into the country. This is reported as the total import expenditure on all vehicles, including private vehicles and vehicles used for commercial purposes.
Also, the total expenditure on vehicle imports was US$ 301 million in December 2025.
Despite the highest annual export revenue recorded last year (2025), the deficit in the merchandise account has widened to US$ 7.9 billion compared to 2024.
This is also due to the increase in vehicle import expenditure last year (2025).
