Three crores in cash and gold jewellery in the car of the Intelligence Division Constable

Officers of the Police Special Task Force’s Devundara camp who were on night patrol on the Devundara-Hummana road have recovered three crores twenty-eight lakhs and 150 grams of gold jewellery hidden in a car.

These officers found this cash and gold jewellery when they stopped and inspected a suspicious car that was moving on the road at around 4 am today (17).

Accordingly, 5 persons with this cash and gold jewellery have been arrested by the Police Special Task Force officers on suspicion.

Among those arrested was a police constable who was attached to the Western Provincial Intelligence Headquarters and he was the driver of the car, according to the police.

The arrests were made while the participants were on their way home after a party held at the police officer’s house. The suspects, aged between 45 and 50, are residents of Devundara, Matara Weraduwa, Udupeekwella and Kelaniya.
