Although the auditor General pointed out in his report regarding the loss of 6.9 million dollars to Sri Lanka from the stock of organic fertilizers imported from China’s Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Ltd, neither the Ministry of Agriculture nor the Committee on Public Affairs of the Parliament (COP) have started formal investigations.
In 2021, Sri Lanka rejected the batch of organic fertilizer imported from China’s Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Ltd due to the presence of harmful microorganisms, but because the Chinese company took legal action in this regard, Sri Lanka had to pay US$ 6.9 million to the Chinese company.
The Auditor General’s report in this regard was submitted to the COPE Committee in September last year. However, no investigation has been initiated into it yet.
