The Ministry of Health says that there is still a shortage of specialists in the fields of anesthesia, pediatrics, hematology and surgery.
Deputy Minister Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni says that the main reason for this situation is that some doctors who went abroad for specialist training have not returned to the country.
In addition, he says that another group of specialists have migrated to foreign countries due to the recent economic crisis in the country.
However, the Deputy Minister further emphasized that there are enough physical therapists in the country.
