There is no bail for the activist who threatened the Minister of State for Defense

The Naula Magistrate today ordered the remand of a suspect who was arrested for sending threatening text messages and making threatening posts on Facebook to Minister of State for Defense Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon during the last struggles.

Mr. Shaminda Wickrama, the senior government lawyer who represented the Criminal Investigation Department, stated that during the struggle, the suspect had sent threatening text messages to the state minister.

Pointing out that the suspect has violated the Parliamentary Privileges Act and the provisions of the Bail Act, the government lawyer requested the court to reject the suspect’s bail request and remand him in custody. The magistrate accepted the request and remanded the suspect until August 3.
