Supporters of National People’s Power threatened and attacked a group of party members of former minister Manusha Nanayakkara, Galle district candidate of the New Democratic Front, who were campaigning from door to door in Galle Hillside Estate.
A complaint has also been filed with the Special Election Complaints Unit of the Galle Police regarding this attack.
This morning a group of four including women are engaged in the election campaign of Manusha Nanayakkara. Accordingly, while the four were distributing election leaflet from house to house in Hillside Estate, a group of supporters of NPP came and threatened them. One of those who threatened, hit a woman who was handing out leaflets with an umbrella and threatened her.
Those who have been attacked have also claimed that those who threatened them were wearing NPP bracelets.
