The Sri Lankan athletics team, which won the South Asian Championship, returns home.

The Sri Lankan team, which won the runner-up position in the 4th South Asian Athletics Championships held in India, arrived in the island this morning (28), and Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage arrived at the airport to receive the team.

The Sri Lankan team that participated in this year’s tournament won a total of 40 medals, including 16 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 10 bronze medals, winning second place in the event.

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga was named the best player of the tournament, while Shafia Yamik won a trio of gold medals in the tournament.
