The request to increase the electricity bill is rejected

The Ceylon Electricity Board has made a request to the Public Utilities Commission that the electricity bill should be increased once again to cover the losses incurred by the Ceylon Electricity Board.

But the Public Utilities Commission has rejected the request and they say that the existing tariff revision is sufficient.

The General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board, D. R. P Senaviratne has sent a letter to the Director General of the Public Utilities Commission.

In his letter, the General Manager has pointed out that the electricity board’s income this year has decreased by about 33 billion rupees due to the tariffs submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board and approved by the Public Utilities Commission.
