A discussion is being created in the political field regarding the absence of many key members of the Rajapaksa family at the event when Parliament member Namal Rajapaksa was nominated as the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
Apart from former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and former minister Basil Rajapaksa, no other member of the Rajapaksa family was present.
Former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, former Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament Shashindra Rajapaksa as well as Mr. Namal Rajapaksa’s brothers Yoshita Rajapaksa, Rohitha Rajapaksa and his mother Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa did not attend the event.
