The president’s will is not to distribute rice but to boost your economy.

Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara emphasized that although President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been in politics for a significant period, this is his first presidency in Sri Lanka, granting him the authority to take action.

Speaking at a rice distribution event for low-income earners in Mannar, the minister stated:

”Let’s not forget that this is Ranik Wickramasinghe’s first presidency. He has a vision to uplift the nation, evident in initiatives such as introducing the national anthem in Tamil in 2015 and implementing policies to ensure financial stability for all.”

The minister referred to President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s previous announcement about providing ”bracelets” for everyone, which was heavily criticized. However, the minister explained that the president aims to create an economy where everyone can afford such luxuries.

”Here we know that Tamil sisters are all tied necklace. But it is not easy to find some gold for it. president ranil want to create an economy where anyone can get some gold easily. This includes fostering economic opportunities for women, ensuring equality, and safety in the workforce.”

“While rice distributions to low-income earners are ongoing nationwide, the president’s goal isn’t to rely on subsidies indefinitely. Instead, he aims to bolster the economy, empower families, and create self-sufficiency,” the minister clarified.

Regarding Mannar’s development, the minister highlighted the president’s plans to transform mannar into a port city and revive the ferry service with India. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop the tourism industry in the province, leveraging attractions like Rama bridge to boost l income of local residance.

Recognizing the province’s post-war struggles, the minister assured that the president is committed to equitable development across all country, prioritizing peace and harmony as foundational elements for progress.
