In the progress review meeting of the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation held yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat, the President has focused his special attention on the Central Expressway.
He emphasized that streamlining and efficient road development projects will help to achieve rural economic development goals.
Also, the President pointed out that the procurement process should be formalized in the implementation of rural road development projects, and the importance of planning the projects in such a way that local and rural people get the benefits instead of getting contracts in the hands of a few.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has also instructed the officials to implement projects related to railway lines in a manner that ensures the safety of railway employees and the public.
