Minister Prasanna Ranatunga stated that people didn’t vote based on goods distributed by politicians. He emphasized that they have already elected Ranil Wickremesinghe as the leader capable of rescuing Sri Lanka from the severe economic crisis it was facing.
The minister made these remarks while addressing the media after a rice distribution ceremony for low-income families in Kelaniya.
In response to a question, he clarified that their rice distribution program is not aimed at elections, and people with different political views will benefit from it.
“We are not conducting this program for electoral purposes. People here have diverse political opinions. They won’t vote based on the distribution of goods. They have already chosen Ranil Wickremesinghe because they believe he can lead the country out of the economic crisis,” he said.
