The NPP does not know how to work with doctors

Former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that no government can succeed in playing Chandipart for the problems of professionals.

He said this while commenting on the strong stances and statements made by the current government ministers on the trade union movement and strike rallies in a Rupavahini political program. .

He pointed out that the current ministers have not yet understood the seriousness of the health sector, adding that he was not limited to politics, but was actively engaged in the medical profession for 15 years and had experience in private medical services, so the trade unions could not deceive him.

Recalling that there were serious conflicts with the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) during his tenure, the former minister pointed out that even the current leaders of the association now regret it.

He also criticized the stances of Minister Lalkantha and Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa on the strike rallies, saying that it was a wrong move by a government to behave unfairly in the face of trade union pressure.

“Doctors and nurses are now highly qualified professionals. If they come out together, the entire system will collapse. These cannot be trivialized by saying that rallies come and go. It is surprising that a group like the JVP, which came to power on the backs of trade unions, is talking like this,” said Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
