President Ranil Wickremesinghe believes that National People’s Party (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake will beat Samagi Jana Balavega’s candidate Sajith Premadasa in this year’s presidential election and become the opposition leader later this year.
“During the time of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, my party was the main opposition. In the past there was only a two-sided battle. In the last presidential election, there was only one main candidate from the opposition and one candidate from the ruling party. But today it has changed because there are two opposition candidates for this year’s presidential election,” Mr. Wickramasinghe said.
