The recent publicity given to the repatriation of underworld leaders arrested abroad will have a negative impact on Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and the country’s reputation, says MP Dilith Jayaweera.
He said that the government is used to calling international media outlets to report on the arrests of underworld leaders and that this situation will lead foreigners to perceive Sri Lanka as a country with a high level of underworld activity. He said that in the end, only fifty-two whites will come to the country as tourists, and the next headache for the country will be the underworld of these whites.
He said this while addressing a public meeting held in Ja Ela.
