The Malima cabinet is named on the 18th.

The Cabinet of the new National People’s Power Government is to be named on Monday the 18th. Political sources say that the number of ministerial positions included in it will be greatly reduced, and discussions are currently being held on the allocation of ministries on scientific basis.

Meanwhile, the new parliament, the 10th parliament in the history of Sri Lanka’s parliament, is scheduled to meet on the 21st, and on that day special activities such as the appointment of the speaker, the swearing in of members, the election of the deputy speaker and the deputy committee chairman are to be carried out.

It is reported that the government is going to appoint MP Bimal Ratnayake from the national list for the post of speaker. Standing orders are suspended on the first day of Parliament sitting, so there is no seating arrangement for MPs and they have the opportunity to sit in any seat they like.

This year’s general election has confirmed the highest representation of women in Sri Lanka’s electoral history. It is said that 20 women MPs have been elected to the House of Representatives and most of them are representing the National People’s Power.

Meanwhile, it is said that a special workshop will be held on the 25th, 26th and 27th for the newly elected members of the 10th Parliament.
