The government has two opinions on the increasing number of wild animals.

The results of the first-ever wildlife census in Sri Lanka are scheduled to be announced on the 28th, Agriculture Minister K.D. Lal Kantha says.

However, he said that it cannot be considered a completely clear report and that an accurate assessment of the number of animals will be possible after the census is conducted several more times.

Accordingly, he said, it can be decided whether to export more animals abroad or take other measures. He said this while speaking at a media conference held in Kandy.

However, expressing his views in this regard, Member of Parliament Jagath Manuwarna said that the expert committee has approved the program to take the touqe monkies to an island. He also said that this is a pilot project and its pros and cons can be understood only after implementation.
