It is reported that a decision will be taken in the next cabinet meeting regarding the transfer of the management of the Mattala International Airport, which was built with the aid of a Chinese loan of 307 million US dollars, and is still running at a heavy loss.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation has already submitted the Cabinet proposal in this regard for consideration in the next Cabinet meeting.
The airport is currently used to handle charter tourist flights from Russia and some Central Asian countries.
