The Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing, Anura Karunathilake, stated that the State Engineering Corporation is running with a debt burden of nine hundred million.
He also said that due to this situation, it has had to pay an interest of about two or three hundred thousand. The Minister also said that the Corporation is not able to pay this amount.
He said that the machinery belonging to the Corporation worth billions has been left in various places and that after a formal audit, what can be done about them will be investigated.
He expressed these views in response to a question asked in Parliament expecting an oral answer.
