The Eastern Province doctors’ strike resumes today.

The strike by doctors in the Eastern Province demanding the removal of the Medical Superintendent of the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital from his post and a fair investigation into the allegations leveled against him has resumed today.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association says that the strike was temporarily suspended due to the Thai Pongal festival and that the strike has been resumed as their issue has not yet been properly resolved.

Accordingly, the strike will be implemented in all government hospitals in the Eastern Province from 8.00 a.m. today.
