The Criminal Procedure Code will be amended

The Cabinet has approved the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code Act.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code Act, No. 15 of 1979, to remove the requirement for the suspect or accused to appear in court in person under special circumstances, to provide for the recording of remote evidence and to issue summons to expert witnesses via email.

Accordingly, the Attorney General’s approval has been received for the relevant draft bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman.

It is stated that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Justice and National Integration to publish the draft bill in the Government Gazette and subsequently submit it to Parliament.
