The connection between drugs and politics in the South is revealed

Public information and intelligence information are revealing that politicians in the South are involved in drugs and organized crime, said Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala. The Minister said this while participating in a media briefing held this afternoon (22).

Stating that organized crime and drug networks have grown due to the political culture that has prevailed in the country in the past, and that the current government has now paid special attention to it, the Minister said that three major drug raids have been carried out in Tangalle today.

“We want to make a special point to the people of the country. Some information has now been revealed that there are political connections in particular drugs and organized crime. Especially politicians in the south are involved in this. Especially the public is now providing information. The police are actively performing their duties. The intelligence agencies are receiving a large amount of information. I appeal to the public to provide the information you know to the police. That information and the safety of the person will be protected.” The Minister said.
