The compensation of retiring electricity workers is also on the shoulders of consumers.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reportedly included Rs. 874 million in the first quarter of this year’s electricity tariff increase to compensate employees who have expressed their willingness to retire without being included in the companies being formed during the restructuring.

This was stated in the proposal to increase electricity tariffs sent by the General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board to the Director General of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.
