The capacity of reservoirs decreases. The contribution of hydroelectricity is only 15%.

The Ceylon Electricity Board says that with the capacity of reservoirs related to power plants reduced to 23%, hydropower generation has also decreased to 15%.

The capacity of Randenigala has decreased to 8.1% and the capacity of Victoria reservoir has decreased to 27% and the capacity of Samanala Lake reservoir has also decreased to 1.9% of the total capacity.

Considering the situation, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has given approval to the Ceylon Electricity Board to purchase 100 megawatts of electricity for a period of 6 months.
