The third reading of the 2024 budget was passed in Parliament today with a majority of 41 votes.
Accordingly, 122 votes were received in favor of it and 81 votes were received against it.
The special thing that happened during the budget voting was former sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe voting against the budget. Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sambandhan also abstained from voting.
The three ruling party MPs Diana Gamage, Sujith Sanjay Perera and Rohana Bandara, who were suspended from parliamentary meetings for a month, were also allowed to vote in the third reading of the budget.
