The bar permits issued by Ranil are legal. They cannot be revoked.

Leader of the House Minister Bimal Ratnayake said that since the liquor licenses granted to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe were legally granted, legal problems will arise if they are suspended.

He made this comment in response to a statement made by Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi MP Kavindiran Kodiswaran.

The Leader of the House further commented as follows.

The National People’s Power government has not issued any new liquor licenses. Most of the licenses issued are for the purchase of MPs, especially those issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the last few months.

We have Hansarded them here. Once a license is granted legally, it is a legal document. Even if we don’t like it politically, abolishing it is a legal matter. Therefore, we can’t go to a government and forcefully close it.”
