The 7 th friendly meeting of the “Sri Lanka Olympians, a team of athletes who have represented Sri Lanka in the Olympic Games, took place on August 31, 2024, at the Sports Ministry Auditorium in Colombo 7. The event also included a lunch gathering held at the NCC Sports Club premises.
A key highlight of this year’s meeting was the recognition of athletes who participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Olympians, including Aruna Darshana OLY, K. Charles Abeysinghe OLY, Dilhani Syatarage OLY, Ganga Seneviratne OLY, and Viren Nettasinghe OLY, were warmly welcomed and honored. They received the OLY Honorary Letter from the World Olympians Association (WOA), along with a certificate and an Olympic Commemorative Letter presented by the Sri Lanka Olympians. In addition, each athlete was presented with a gold pound as a gift from the Chairperson and the SLO Committee.
Varuna Hagoda, Senior Manager of Allianz Insurance, handed over health insurance coverage provided for the fourth consecutive year by Allianz Insurance to the Chairperson and committee members. Insurance contracts were signed during the event.
Additionally, CBL distributed a food parcel to each member, and Ratnapura Marapana Upali James presented a sports t-shirt to federation members, adding a personal touch to the gathering.
