NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the Sinhalese and Tamil people have the right to deal with the government in their own language and increased the percentage of Tamil youth in government institutions, the armed forces and other important government sectors. He also emphasized that it is essential to defeat the ethnic political culture in this country for the sake of future generations. Yesterday he said this while attending the Northern Provincial Conference of the Ceylon Teachers Service Association.
“Our main political stream till now has followed an adversarial politics. The Sinhalese people in the south organized against the north. The Tamil people in the north organized against the Sinhalese people in the south. We need to put an end to this racist political culture. He said it is for our future generations.
He also emphasized that if the Tamil politicians in the North are really concerned about the problems faced by the Tamil people, they should unite as one team.
