The Colombo High Court has ordered the release on bail of the former jailer of Boossa Prison, who was arrested and remanded in custody as a suspect in the shooting death of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, who is considered a criminal in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne issued the order after examining a bail application submitted on behalf of the suspect. Accordingly, the judge also ordered the suspect to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 75,000 and two surety bonds of Rs. 2.5 million each.
The judge stated in his ruling that since the facts presented during the hearing of this bail application do not reveal that the suspect is involved in the relevant crime, he will be released on bail.
