UNP National Organizer Sagala Ratnayake said that the UNP will work in agreement with the party that received the majority of votes in the opposition to establish power in order to continue the efficient service it has provided in the Colombo Municipal Council for a long time.
He stated this while addressing the media in Colombo.
“The UNP is engaged in discussions with the opposition parties and independent groups to establish power in institutions where the opposition has a majority of votes in order to provide a government that works without lying to the people.
We are working to continue the efficient and excellent service that the party has rendered while holding power in the Colombo Municipal Council for a long time.
We are not forming an alliance to establish power. We are establishing power through consensus and cooperation. In doing so, it is not about who supports whom, but rather serving the people that is important.”
