Street play against Bimal performed before Bribery Commission

A street play was performed before the Commission for the Prevention of Bribery or Corruption yesterday afternoon demanding the immediate arrest of Minister Bimal Ratnayake.

After the New People’s Front submitted a complaint to the Bribery Commission seeking an investigation into the incident of the release of 323 containers without customs inspection, members of the front staged this street play to express their protest to Minister Bimal Ratnayake.

Afterwards, New People’s Front leader Sugeeshwara Bandara, who spoke to the media, said:

”The Director General of Customs says that this was released on the instructions of the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee Bimal Ratnayake. Then Bimal Ratnayake should be arrested now. The underworld has quickly raised its head. We suspect that every bullet fired from the underworld is connected to it.

Mr. President, no one else is corrupt, your government’s leader of the house, your confidant, your politburo member Bimal Ratnayake is the one behind this corruption.

You should issue the necessary orders to the Criminal Investigation Department and the Bribery Commission to arrest Bimal Ratnayake too.”
