Prison Media Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake announces that 917 prisoners have been granted amnesty for Sinhala and Tamil New Year today (13).
He stated that 896 male prisoners and 21 female prisoners will receive special state amnesty for the New Year. Additionally, he mentioned that eligible prisoners will be released around 10 am today.
Under the powers vested in the President by Article 34 of the Constitution, this special state amnesty is granted to incarcerated prisoners.
